Day two was a success. Did my mile run again, and managed to shave a minute off of that ugly 15...I think when I get it to a somewhat reasonable time, I'll start trying to go further. Baby steps...lets master that mile first.
The problem with me running is not so much the muscle pain...that sucks, but I've always had pretty strong legs, and I can ignore the ache. The problem is that I run 20 feet, and my lungs and throat instantly feel as if I've been guzzling molten steel. Maybe I need to figure out how to breathe properly or something. It's probably more likely that I just have zero endurance, and only time and practice will fix it.
I'm thinking about grabbing a stability ball next time I'm at the store. I'm going to try to accumulate exercise equipment piece-meal, so the cost doesn't make me want to puke. Eventually, I want to get a couple of kettlebells and one of those rubbery resistance bands.
Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm two days clean from soda or sweet tea. I'm not saying I'm going to quit either of them forever...but still, not drinking them daily and by the gallon is kind of a big deal for me. I've started drinking at least one big glass of coconut milk every day. I hate regular milk, but coconut milk is pretty tasty...and it has a lot less calories, and a lot more calcium. Which my nutritionist friend tells me is not very important when compared with magnesium, but still. It gives me a warm fuzzy to drink something with calcium on the label, since I avoid milk like the plague.
You'll be down to Paul Young-time miles in no time :D. Also, burning lungs are a sign that you're doing something right. I think. That's what I always assumed. I think when we ran they told us to, whenever possible, breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Which sucks at first or if you have a cold.
